At Mach 2010 CMS will be exhibiting an Antares Five Axis CNC Machine Centre , designed for trimming and high speed machining of composite and aluminum materials this versatile five axis machine centre is well specified complete with Fanuc control system, 12kW liquid cooled spindle, automatic tool change magazine, work table with integrated vacuum system.
The Antares has travels of 2,600 mm (X axis) by 1,500mm (Y axis) by 1,200mm (Z axis) and is equipped with a 2,500 mm x 1,500 mm work table.
Fully interlocked, automatic doors ensure that the operator is protected from the cutting area and vacuum clamping provides effective and unobtrusive work holding - a major benefit for this type of work.
Equipped with a powerful liquid cooled 12 kW / 24,000 rpm spindle with HSK tool connection and 8-station automatic toolchanger, and is combined with fully interpolative 5-axis movement, ensure heavy and flexible cutting capability.
A particular benefit of the Antares construction is the clamping mechanism for the rotary axes, which gives extra rigidity when machining in the 3 + 2 and 4 + 1 axis modes.
CMS has also developed protection features against the ingress of dust particles. The machine is provided with effective protection against the ingress of carbon dust to the machine's electronics, slide ways and spindle, as well as an efficient extraction hood that turns with the rotary axis movements. Tool setting is catered for by an automatic, laser-based tool diameter and length setting probe to ensure precise and reliable cutting accuracy. A radio probe provides the necessary functionality for part positioning and inspection.
